Brief description
Mirror OS is an operating system developed for smart mirrors. These are mirrors that offer a kind of mobile phone functionality.
What is needed
Prior experience with the Raspberry Pi and Linux would be beneficial ;). It would also certainly help if you've used SSH before. Otherwise, you'll need the following.
Hardware
- I have a Pi B+ V1.2 sitting around that will serve as the first test subject.
- A 65GB microSD card.
- WiFi Adapter 😉

Installation
Prepare SD
The following actions will take place on your Windows PC. Installation via Mac is also possible; for this, please follow the original link to Mirror OS.
Format
I'm not sure if this step is really necessary, but I've just done it as described on the mirror OS page.
Install SD Card Formatter. Here Is there a guide?.
Format SD card with „Quick format“.
Then briefly remove and reinsert the SD card from the PC. Because the formatter triggers an auto-eject :).
If not already done, download the mirror OS image.
Install Nun Etscher if not already done.
Write the image to the SD card. Start Etscher for this.

Select image

Press on flashes…

and wait...

And done... pop the SD card into the Pi and start it up.
Unfortunately, my Raspberry Pi 2B isn't working properly. I can't get a connection, it's probably my Wi-Fi adapter.
So I quickly ordered another PI3, and lo and behold, after a while I got a picture. Now I just need to follow the on-screen instructions.
- Connect to the mobile phone with the specified network.
- Open website http://glancr.conf
- Configure network and provide a valid email address
- If all goes well, you will receive an email with links to the configuration.
- Then download and install the modules.
- Arrange the modules
And that's it. The operation is simple and intuitive. Possibly rotate the image in the configuration, here This is how it goes.
The television test
This is what it can look like, the temperature isn't quite right yet. But as you can see, my TV is also reflecting things.

Conclusion
Once you've managed to install Mirror//OS, it's a really nice system. There are also a few modules that can be downloaded from the website and simply installed on the configuration page.
The arrangement of the individual modules has been kept very simple. You can only determine whether the module should take up half or the whole screen and their order below each other. What results from this arrangement at the end looks surprisingly good ;). The half-screen modules appear to be arranged fluidly next to each other according to their space requirements.
All in all, a successful OS, easy to install and configure.
Problem
It didn't work for me with the PI 2, but that's more down to the WIFI adapter.
It didn't work with the PI3 on the first attempt either. I then wrote the image to the SD card again and started from scratch.
