Slip rings enable electrical connections to objects rotating through 360°.
Operating principle
The slip ring functions similarly to the commutator on a motor, except that the ring on the slip ring axis is not interrupted but is continuous. 1 to n rings are arranged parallel to each other on an axis. A wiper runs on each of these. The number of ring-wiper pairs determines the number of contacts made. In a closed system, the wiper and the rings are each led to the outside via cables. The grinder wears down with increased operating time. How long a grinder will last at a minimum can usually be found in the manufacturer's specifications.
